About me
experience |
I attended Eastern New Mexico where I graduated Magna Cum Laude, Most Outstanding Senior and Who's Who of American University Students. I'm beginning my eleventh year in North East Independent School District, and I've taught students in nearly every grade level from kinder to eighth in co-teach, self-contained, redirect and specialized support settings. I was a featured teacher in the Online Training Module for the Low Incidence Statewide Network, being honored with the opportunity to share my successful classroom systems with other teachers in the state of Texas who work with students with low incidence disabilities. I reviewed and updated the Monthly Instructional Guides for Region 3, and I wrote a webinar titled "Evidence Based Practices for Teaching Students with Down Syndrome" that will be used to train teachers across the state. I've taught adult education classes for regions across Texas on successful teaching strategies and positive behavior supports in a special needs classroom, and this year I was selected to be featured on ESC-20’s Low-Incidence Disabilities Exemplary Educator Showcase. The educators selected for the Exemplary Educator Showcase will be featured on the ESC-20 website and social media pages highlighting the amazing things that are happening in our region's classrooms. Selection of featured educators was be based on evidence and implementation of research-based strategies appropriate for students with disabilities.

TEACHERS42MORROW is a website I designed to support special needs teachers. It offers resources on lesson planning, scheduling, behavior management, data collection, organizing a special needs classroom and activities for instruction. I've met many amazing special education teachers across the country through my blog, and last year it was named by the University of Kansas as one of the nation's top special education teacher blogs.
